F1 2014 Challenges



F1 2014 is facing a lot of challenges this year as they approach the biggest technical revolution since 1980’s when V6 turbo engines were enhanced. They have introduced the new environment friendly energy recovery systems. This modification can offer a new look, feel as well as sound. This is considered as the biggest change ever happened in Formula 1. Today, everyone is trying to look for fuel-efficient cars to help save the environment and is the right time for F1 to become part of this campaign to give solution to the growing problem of climate change rather than being part of the problem.

Fans are wondering if Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull despite of the reset in the regulation can dominate the race. This new regulation can give potential to other drivers to take the lead. This massive change might also give many teams a hard time and many wants to know if Red Bull can still managed to keep the momentum going. No one knows what will happen according to Sky F1 analyst. Each team is starting to analyze and understand what they need to do, so it is very unpredictable. This is the reason why a lot of fans are very excited to see the battle at the race track.
He also thinks that Lewis Hamilton has better chances of winning the title this time. He is with Mercedes right now and he had better plans than 2013. Of course, it depends on Lewis hand if he can beat his rivals for the top spot. The two driver line up for this year remains unchanged and there are new exciting match ups. The most unexpected but interesting matchup is between Alonso and Raikkonen, and many are looking forward to see them work together for Ferrari.
Today after Jerez testing, F1 is now going for Bahrain and many teams are experiencing problems regarding their cars. Finishing few laps a day is not a good sign especially for Red Bull and Lotus. Many are experiencing engine and battery problems and they think of the weather as the number one reason for these issues. However, each team remains positive that they can solve whatever issues come their way. The drivers are showing positivity and determination to win.

They also think that lack of time is their number one enemy to reach their goals. Car testing in Bahrain is such a challenge for many teams especially for Red Bull and Lotus. This is the final stop for F1 testing right before the season started next month as the first race will take place in Australia. All 11 teams are all scheduled to take action during the eight days testing session. Many are still struggling with the latest rules. The newest design of 2014 cars has modified the crash-test safety regulations. Each team has implemented this new regulation in different way. For example, Ferrari designed the flat snout approach while Lotus designed split-prong design. Despite of the changes, each team is still confident that they will win the race.

F1 2014 Testing at Jerez: McLaren’s secret uncovered



The principal technical discussion topic of the second day of F1 2014 testing in Spain is McLaren’s inventive rear suspension design. McLaren has fastened a huge aerodynamically sketched blocker to each of the hindmost suspension links.
This model is intended to endow the car with both more downward force at lower speeds and lessen grind at greater speeds.
These blockers must not be independent, according to F1 2014 regulations. They must be part and parcel of the suspension itself. However, there exists a very thin line between something that is all single portion, and a free mantle, which would go against Formula 1 rules. There is strong belief that McLaren ensured that the model observes the regulations. The design seems to befit all obligations in terms of position and arrangement.

How the suspension design functions
The aerodynamically outlined portions function as structures to block the airflow coming out of the Coke bottle region as it comes to the rear of the diffuser. Thus, a region of low pressure behind these blockers is created. This will in turn enhance the velocity of the airflow roving at the base of the car, producing more downward force emanating from under the floor.
Previously, the rear beam wing performed the same work. F1 2014 regulations have however illegalized that, prompting teams to search for fresh ways to cater for the same.
The most intriguing thing about McLaren’s design for F1 2014 is that when the car is at higher ride height, the aerodynamic parts will almost entirely close the opening at the upper part of the diffuser. This helps in working at low speeds.
An opening will form between the diffuser and the bottom of the lower blocker when the car is at higher speed. This results from suspension deflection and effectively lowers drag.
The Suspension Invention Already Reaping Rewards
The suspension design could be reason enough why Jenson Button’s McLaren was capped fastest in F1 2014 second day of pre - season testing at Jerez in Spain. Button outdid everyone in the official wet - weather running in daybreak, in spite of the MP4 - 29 not having been seen at all on the first day of the event.
Button had swapped fastest laps with former team mate, Sergio Perez who was behind the wheels of Force India. The McLaren was on top when Perez halted at Turn 1 and flashed out the second day’s 2nd red flag. The first one had been brought out by Estaban Gutierrez of Sauber.

McLaren’s F1 2014 Design is a Twofold Whammy
The aerodynamic design thus delivers a twofold advantage in that it endows you with;

·         Reduced drag at greater speeds
This suspension design is essentially McLaren’s hush-hush big stick because if it works perfectly as already thought, it is not a design that will be copied overnight as it is reliant on various design constraints at the rear of the F1 car.
